Strengthening Commitment to Gender Equality
The Technical Assistance Component of Locfund Next recently concluded three successful projects focused on the promotion of gender equality. These initiatives were implemented by three microfinance institutions (MFIs) from Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Mexico, where more than 1,000 staff members were trained (52% female) in leadership with a gender equality focus. Gender strategies and policies were also developed and implemented, tailored to the specific reality and internal need of each institution.
These activities are part of the gender program launched in 2024 and reflect Locfund Next and BIM Ltd.’s commitment to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). This commitment focuses on promoting gender-responsive investments and fostering a positive impact on economic empowerment, both internally and within the institutions that comprise the portfolio.
